Review by David Bowling
Guitarist Cliff Hines and vocalist Sasha Masakowski met in high school and have now issued their self-titled debut album Hildegard.
It is more of a project than an album as it explores the outer edges of rock music with sophisticated and off-kilter harmonies and song structures. On top of this foundation they bring their sound back from the outer edges of popular music toward the mainstream with some memorable melodies.
It is an album that soars and plunges and while it may not be for everyone’s taste, it is never boring.
Hildegard has taken the first step on a journey that promises to be a little out of the creative norm.
