Down In The Dirt

Amanda Fish Band

Vizztone 2015

Review by David Bowling

The best way to describe the music of Amanda Fish is passionate and intense. Slide guitarist deluxe Sean McDonnell enhances her music with his hard-edged guitar style.

She has a powerful voice that is perfect for her brand of blues. Her compositions are reflective as they dance across a wide range of emotions and stories.

“Down In The Dirt” and “I Don’t Need It” are the blues at its most basic. The ringing guitar chords with her gritty vocals floating over the mix are a reminder of the blues origins.

“Guess I’ll Lay Down” and “Breaking Me Down” are grind-it-out blues ballads that are edgy and biting. “Prisoner Of Your Touch” incorporates some jazz rhythms into the mix.

Amanda Fish and her band have issued an album of uncompromising blues. It is blues not for the faint of heart.
