I Must Be Dreaming
CD Baby 2015
Review by David Bowling
Laura Tate may not be a household name but she has what can be described as a sassy approach that would work well on the Broadway stage or an small club setting. She has now returned with her third album release I Must Be Dreaming.
Songwriter Mel Harker plays an important role in her new release as he wrote or co-wrote all 12 tracks. He is an incisive lyricist whose stories are simple and clear. Combined with uncomplicated melodies, they are a good vehicle for Tate’s vocal interpretations.
Songs such as “No Place To Hide,” “Talk Is Cheap,” “Cowboy Jazz,” and “If Ever Forever Should End” are best served in an intimate setting or with a glass of wine.
Laura Tate continues to produce smooth and well-honed music that embraces blues, pop, and jazz. I Must Be Dreaming is a pleasant collection that will entertain.
