For A Change

Brad Hatfield

Review by David Bowling

Fresh from a 2013 Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Artist; Brad Hatfield has returned with his sophomore release For A Change, and he has super producer/drummer/songwriter Tom Hambridge in tow.

Hambridge is one of the hardest working men in the music industry. His production credits, drumming as a side musician, and songwriting skills appear with regularity. Here, he writes or co-writes 10 of the 12 tracks.

Hatfield has created a blues album that moves in a number of directions with varied tempos. “Back Door Scratchin'” borders on a rock and roll beat. “Behave Yourself” is a smoldering slow blues piece. “Burbank Boogie” has as jaunty barrel roll piano boogie foundation. The title track contains a soulful vocal.

Brad Hatfield has produced a modern day album that will please all fans of the blues.
