Poisons Sipped

David Michael Miller

CD Baby 2014

Review by David Bowling

David Michael Miller spent over three years as the lead singer of Dive House Union. Now on his own, he has released a solo album titled Poisons Sipped.

His music explores the blues idiom but his voice brings a soulful quality to the mix. He uses a basic band augmented by keyboards, brass, and even a pedal steel in places to fill out the sound.

Tracks such as “Hand Me Down'” “Moonshine,” “Carolina Bound,” and “Movin’ On” have wonderful textures as they explore life from a musicians perspective.

David Michael Miller is establishing himself as a blues musician who is able to move in a number of directions. Poisons Sipped is a potion well taken.
